Bandits (野盗, やとう, "Yatō") are criminals that steal, rob, kill, rape and abduct people for personal pleasure or material gain. They are very common throughout the manga and anime, usually as minor antagonists or demon fodder. They are immoral, greedy, opportunistic, callous, vicious, crude, self-serving and cruel. They often have a leader that they follow, typically one who is all of the above and worse.

The most notable bandit in the InuYasha franchise is probably Onigumo, the evil brigand responsible for creating the hanyō Naraku. Other notable bandits include Kansuke, and the demon Gatenmaru, both leaders of their respective hordes.
