A Peaceful Meal is the 392nd chapter of the InuYasha manga.

Synopsis[]

Summary[]

  • Everyone takes a much needed rest after the battle with Tōshū. Inuyasha goes with Kagome back to the modern era. Meanwhile, Miroku instructs Shippō to impersonate him and stay with Sango so the real Miroku can go flirt with other women. Sango overhears this and beats Miroku over the head with a piece of wood.
  • In the modern era, Kagome's mother has caught a cold, so Kagome decides to stay and help her recover. Meanwhile, Inuyasha sleeps peacefully in Kagome's bed. Kagome hopes he stays that way while she's at school. Later, Kagome's alarm clock goes off, waking the Hanyō up abruptly. He excitedly remarks that he's completely healed now. Grandpa Higurashi is tending to a Zen garden when Inuyasha jumps down from Kagome's window, completely destroying the garden. He fans a spicy food in Inuyasha's direction as revenge, hurting the dog hanyō's sensitive sense of smell.
  • At Kagome's school, Kagome has a fantasy of cooking a delicious meal for Inuyasha, but it's interrupted when Inuyasha shows up unannounced. She Sits him and tells him to stay home. Later, as Inuyasha is waiting back at Kagome's house, Sōta Higurashi mentions that Kagome is out getting ingredients for a meal. Inuyasha then goes out and catches pigeons and Koi fish for the meal, but Kagome angrily tells him to put them all back.
  • After Kagome tells him to set the table, Sōta gets scared by a cockroach in the kitchen, and asks Grandpa to kill it. Inuyasha volunteers to do it instead, swinging his Tessaiga to kill it, destroying the kitchen sink and ruining the meal. Kagome is speechless, and Inuyasha becomes timid knowing he made a mistake, waiting sheepishly as Kagome helps nurse her mother.

Trivia[]

  • In the anime adaptation of this chapter, Inuyasha uses the Wind scar on the cockroach, destroying a whole wall of the Higurashi house for greater comic effect. In the manga, he just destroys the sink and causes some minor water damage.
