Go Home To Your Own Time, Kagome! is the nineteenth episode of the InuYasha anime. It first aired in Japan on March 12, 2001.
Synopsis
- Inuyasha is able to regain the Tessaiga from Sesshōmaru, severing the human arm, and Sesshōmaru retreats.
- Sesshōmaru attacks Naraku after the plan failed, but it was a mere demon puppet, not Naraku himself.
- Inuyasha, who had not fully recovered from his battle with Sesshōmaru, tells Kagome to return to the modern era, as the situation is getting more dangerous after Naraku's emergence; Inuyasha pushes Kagome into the Bone-Eater's Well and takes the Shikon no Tama shard, so that she will be unable to return.
Summary
Having deactivated Tessaiga with her arrow, Kagome fires another arrow at Sesshōmaru's borrowed left arm, but Sesshōmaru dodges and leaps at her; Inuyasha manages to divert him at the last minute. Kagome warns Inuyasha about the Shikon shard in Sesshōmaru's arm, but Inuyasha urges her to look after Miroku, since her modern medicine may have more of an effect on the Saimyōshō venom. He does thank her for her help, though, saying that he can beat Sesshōmaru now that he no longer has the Tessaiga's power. However, this makes Kagome wonder if she should be worried (given that Inuyasha always disdains relying on others for help).
Jaken is seized by Miroku, who questions how Sesshōmaru knew exactly how to exploit Miroku's Wind Tunnel with the Saimyōshō, despite neither Jaken nor Sesshōmaru having met Miroku before. Jaken reveals that they were given the Saimyōshō by a demon wearing a baboon pelt and mask. When pressed for the demon's name, he reveals it as Naraku. Realizing it is same the demon he and his predecessors have been hunting, Miroku demands Naraku's whereabouts, but Jaken doesn't know and points out it won't do Miroku much good given that he's currently dying of the Saimyōshō's venom. When he insults Miroku further, the monk beats him to a pulp, but his body is indeed weakening from the venom. Fortunately, at that moment Kagome arrives with modern medicine. Miroku attempts to trick her into administering it mouth-to-mouth, but she quickly passes the job on to Shippō (with the result that Miroku is suddenly able to take it himself), reasoning that if Miroku's well enough to joke, she can focus on helping Inuyasha.
Inuyasha, meanwhile, has deduced that Sesshōmaru's borrowed arm is from a human, thus giving him the ability to use Tessaiga. If Inuyasha removes the arm, not only will he have his sword back, but he will gain another Shikon shard as well. Unfortunately, even without Tessaiga, Sesshōmaru is both faster and stronger than his half-brother, and the resulting fight leaves Inuyasha battered. However, Sesshōmaru's armor is suddenly shattered by another of Kagome's arrows. Sesshōmaru insists she stay out of the fight, arguing that, half-breed though he is, Inuyasha should honor his demon heritage by fighting without human aid. Fearing Sesshōmaru's wrath against Kagome, Inuyasha also tells her to retreat, but she instead fires another arrow; however, Sesshōmaru catches it mid-air and incinerates it with his poison claws, just as Tessaiga starts to re-activate. Angered by her interference, Sesshōmaru fires a blast of energy at her, which Inuyasha tries to intercept. Because Tessaiga is not yet at full power, the blast merely throws Kagome and Inuyasha backward rather than killing them, but Kagome strikes her head against a rock and is knocked unconscious. Enraged, Inuyasha declares that Sesshōmaru will regret attacking her. Miroku, having recovered somewhat, offers to use the Wind Tunnel, but Inuyasha points out that some of the Saimyōshō are still alive and Miroku would merely poison himself again. He orders Shippō and Miroku to take Kagome and flee.
At that moment, Tessaiga regains its full power; Sesshōmaru launches another attack, but Inuyasha intercepts his wrist mid-swing, dispelling the attack before it can hit his comrades. He yells again for them to flee, which they do. Taking advantage of Inuyasha's distraction, Sesshōmaru impales him through the torso with his poison-clawed right hand. Kagome, being carried by Miroku, revives in time to witness Inuyasha's injury; distraught and ignoring Miroku's warnings, she heads back toward Inuyasha. Sesshōmaru mocks Inuyasha as he withdraws his claws, but Inuyasha reveals that Sesshōmaru let his guard down; he was able to tear the hand off Sesshōmaru's human arm, enabling him to re-claim Tessaiga.
Badly weakened by blood loss and Sesshōmaru's venom, Inuyasha staggers to his knees, still holding Tessaiga upright. Jaken, believing he is unconscious, attempts to approach, but Sesshōmaru warns him to stop, and a small burst of energy fired from Tessaiga sends the imp fleeing. The sword responds to Inuyasha's will whether he's conscious or not, and if they try to take it, he will strike them down. Deciding that Tessaiga is beyond his reach (for now), Sesshōmaru at last retreats. Kagome, Miroku and Shippō rush toward Inuyasha, who finally collapses from his torso wound.
As Sesshōmaru is flying away, the Saimyōshō follow him; knowing they are after the Shikon shard, Sesshōmaru pulls back his robe to reveal the borrowed human arm is beginning to burn away. Ripping it free before it can injure him, Sesshōmaru tosses it to the wasps, who remove the Shikon Jewel shard and take it to Naraku. After lamenting Sesshōmaru's failure, Naraku notices the daiyōkai is right behind him; Jaken accuses Naraku of trying to trick and kill Sesshōmaru from the start. Sesshōmaru swiftly decapitates him, but when Jaken inspects the body all they find is the baboon cloak and mask. Naraku speaks to Sesshōmaru from somewhere unseen, urging him to keep his anger in check: Naraku may contact him again if he finds another chance to kill Inuyasha.
Hachiemon gives Miroku, Kagome, Shippō and Inuyasha a ride home; Miroku is recovering, but Inuyasha is nearly unconscious from his injuries. Kagome and Shippō discuss the battle, particularly how Sesshōmaru gained the Saimyōshō hive from Naraku; it seems the one that both Inuyasha and Miroku are hunting, is hunting them as well. Unknown to Kagome, Inuyasha overhears the conversation. Recalling the day Naraku fatally wounded Kikyō while disguised as him, Inuyasha feels both rage and worry that his enemy is hiding so closeby.
At Kaede's village, Inuyasha asks Kagome to accompany him to the Bone-Eater's Well, despite his wounds. Ignoring his request to be left alone, Miroku and Shippō follow them and watch from hiding. Kagome notices several medicinal herbs along the way that Kaede taught her about, and Inuyasha remarks that she's learned a lot. When they reach the well, Inuyasha asks about Kagome's head injury, which she dismisses, then he expresses his gratitude: if she hadn't fired her arrows at Sesshōmaru when she did, Inuyasha would have died. Confused by his unusually kind behavior, Kagome asks if he has a fever, but Inuyasha gets to the point: he knows Naraku was the one who manipulated Sesshōmaru into attacking them. The situation becomes more dangerous by the day, and if Naraku's nearby and targeting Inuyasha, that puts Kagome in danger by association. Kagome insists she's not scared and that's exactly why they need to fight Naraku together in order to overcome his cruel trickery... but she is suddenly stunned into silence when Inuyasha hugs her, admitting he was afraid she was going to die during the battle. After a moment, he lets go, revealing that he took her Shikon Jewel shards. When she protests, Inuyasha insists she go back to her own era, shoving her backward into the well. Not knowing the well's purpose, Shippō and Miroku rush forward, shocked, but Inuyasha reassures them that he's merely sent Kagome back to her home.
In the present day, Kagome climbs out of the well, confused and angry. She tries to return to the feudal era by jumping back into the well, but finds herself still in the present, to her shock.

- This is the second time Inuyasha has possession of the Sacred Jewel (Incomplete). The first time at the beginning of the series.
Differences from the manga
- In the anime, Sesshōmaru orders Inuyasha to make Kagome stop interfering with a fight between a demon and hanyō, and catches her arrow in his fingers, dissolving it with his poison. In the manga, however, after Kagome's arrow breaks Sesshōmaru's armor, Inuyasha uses the opportunity to strike Sesshōmaru again. An amused Sesshōmaru then throws Inuyasha at Kagome, causing the two to headbutt.
