Cut in Two is the 276th chapter of the InuYasha manga.

Synopsis[]

Summary[]

  • The only Shikon jewel shards Bankotsu has left are the ones embedded in his right arm, so when Inuyasha takes them out, the un-dead mercenary will be reduced back to bones. Bankotsu vows to slaughter the half-demon and retrieve the shards that were stolen from him.
  • Inuyasha asks Bankotsu if he realizes he is Naraku's pawn, nothing more than his living shield. Bankotsu says he knows and doesn't mind; the Band of Seven always did what the lords who hired asked them to, until they became too powerful and were destroyed, so he has no quarrels being used as such. Bankotsu has a flashback to when Naraku revived him.
  • Inuyasha says Bankotsu is naive if he thinks Naraku will let him keep the jewel shards. Bankotsu says he will stay alive, and he'll slaughter anyone who gets in his way, even Naraku. He also says Inuyasha is weak because when he stole the jewel shards from his neck, he didn't take advantage of the opportunity to land a final blow.

Bankotsu is cut in half by Inuyasha's Tessaiga.

  • Bankotsu dashes for his Banryū, which has two sacred jewel shards in it, declaring that a weakling like Inuyasha has no right to go on living, and then he attacks the half-demon with his halberd. Inuyasha unsheathes his Tessaiga, and the two of them begin to fight with their weapons once again.
  • In conclusion to the battle, the two of them swing their weapons at the same time, but Inuyasha is faster, cutting Bankotsu diagonally in half at the waist, (thus separating his side with the shikon shard with the other), killing the last member of the Band of Seven once and for all.
  • The ground of the cave turns soft like flesh and starts to absorb Bankotsu's corpse along with Inuyasha.
