The Giant Shinidamachū (巨大死魂虫) was a snake-like insect demon sent by Naraku with the intention of absorbing all of Kikyō's souls.

History[]

In the anime version, but not in the manga, the gigantic shinidamachū was originally resting in a lake until Naraku's insects awakened it during a heavy rain. The red shinidamachū attacked Kikyō and tried to devour all of her souls. However, Inuyasha arrived in time and cleaved it in half with a single slash of Tessaiga, although the sword was too heavy.[1]

Trivia[]

  • It is unknown whether this Shinidamachū is unique among its kind or if all members of its species grow to this size.
  • Unlike the smaller ones, Kikyō was unable to control it.
