Rat yōkai are yōkai who resemble the look of a rat. Usually they appear in large amounts of single individuals and are small in size. They do also seem to resemble a rat's attitude and behavior. From what it was shown in the manga and anime series InuYasha it appeared like rat yōkai and common animal rats are overall very much alike, the only notable difference does seem to be that rat yōkai are yōkai presences and not animals.

In episode 16 of Yashahime there is a whole village full of rat yōkai who are known for their blacksmithing. They also created the Robe of the Fire-Rat, as well as the Armor of the Iron Rat. However, Konton brutally murders them all.
