Satsuki's brother (五月の兄, "Satsuki no ani") was a human who lived with Satsuki before he was killed in battle.
History[]
His parents died right after his sister Satsuki was born. The two of them lived in a small hut. He left her to fight in the war in order to become a great samurai. He gave Satsuki a piece of stone flower that he claimed was a shard of the Shikon no Tama and that it could grant any wish. Satsuki waited for him to return, but he was killed in battle.
During the story[]
Satsuki would continue to wait for him to return. A boy told Satsuki while he was beating her up for stealing persimmon that his father saw her brother die in battle, but she refused to believe it. A lizard demon impersonated him to steal the real jewel shards from Shippō and his friends, but was defeated in the end. Satsuki finally acknowledged that her brother died and decided to live with the village headman.
Manga vs. Anime[]
- He doesn't make any appearances in the manga. His only appearance in the anime is a flashback of him giving Satsuki the stone flower (quartz) that he claims is a Shikon Jewel shard before he leaves to go to war.
